Let's Talk Restock Fees - It is NOT Arbitrary and We Aren't Doing It to be

Aug 01, 2020

Lets talk Returns.  First returns, which happens frequently in the parts world, are insanely costly to a business.  Case in point, Ebay, where we offer "free" shipping.  It is anything but "free" as there is outbound and inbound expenses, and in the case of heavy or large dimension objects, could have a round trip expense of $60, $80, or more.

Now that we have expressed this lets talk about reasons for return.
"Changed mind" or "Ordered by Mistake" or "Cancels after Ships" or "Ordered wrong part Because you didn't get the Model number or Serial number along with the model name".  WE WILL NOT ACCEPT eating Shipping on these, we just won't, and while I understand you don't like "losing money" that's the way it has to be for us to survive and provide parts to future customers.  We get too many of these to do otherwise.

Electronic Parts.
Why 20-30% restock.  Well, when you plug it in and it doesn't solve your problem and you want to return it, you just turned a new board into a used one.  Even at these seemingly wild restock fees, we still lose as used/refurbed sells for 50% or less of new, on average.

For Non electric parts, same deal, fastening something down leaves marks, and so does shipping, we have to discount to future buyers.

When you get the news in say ebay of a partial refund and it's only for the shipping (outbound, that we spent) don't flip out and write negative feedback, that's just juvenille, especially if you made the error in ordering, or "changed your mind"...  your decision to buy that is affecting the profitability of our business and that affects our employees.

NOW, we are human as well as you are, when we mess up IN ANY WAY imaginable, we will eat all the costs, no problem.  We don't expect you to pay for our mistakes as we hope you don't expect us to cover yours.
